5 Ways to Brighten Your Kitchen

If you’re reading this that means your kitchen might need some help! Even when you love the design and style of your kitchen, there comes a time when it’s simply time to brighten up the space with some upgrades.  Here are five ideas from the experts at the Poulin Design Center on how to make your kitchen like new once again.

Upgrade Your Backsplash

Your kitchen walls often endure steam, water, and food particles that naturally occur when you’re preparing food and beverages. That’s why it’s important to have a stylish backsplash in place. The backsplash serves as a function surface that is easy to wipe clean. However, it can also be a golden opportunity to add some color and style to your kitchen.  Many homeowners go with a simple white backsplash. But you can add in metal tiles, glass tiles, or even a brightly colored ceramic tile like red or blue.

Countertops

Often our kitchen countertops are overlooked, but installing new countertops is one of the fastest ways to make your kitchen feel like new. Opt for an option that will last a lifetime with granite or quartz. Be sure to choose a style that will match with your flooring, cabinet, and backsplash choices.

New Appliances

If you have any appliances that are not functioning properly, those of course go to the top of the replace list! Often homeowners will have to replace a dishwasher, fridge, or garbage disposal over the years. Appliances like ovens tend to last longer, but sometimes homeowners will simply choose to upgrade all of their appliances at once to ensure a cohesive kitchen design with matching appliances.

Replace Cabinets

Kitchen cabinet design has come a long way in the past couple of decades. You may have older oak cabinets that you now wish to upgrade to beautiful white cabinets, or cabinets with an antique stain. Whatever style you pick, rest assured that your kitchen will feel like a new place once the new cabinets are installed!

New Flooring

Do you have an area rug hiding a cracked ceramic tile or discolored hardwood floor? It’s easy to put flooring on the back burner. However, there is a huge selection of resilient flooring on the market now. You can choose from classics like natural stone or solid hardwoods, or you can opt for a textured laminate, luxury vinyl or even cork in the kitchen.

If you’re ready to take on one of these elements, the Poulin Design Center here in Albuquerque is here to help.  We offer free design consultations and can help you select the materials to create the kitchen of your dreams!
